For professionals dealing with large video files or demanding development environments, network bandwidth can be a significant bottleneck. Although the Mac Studio comes with a 10 Gbps Ethernet option, for some users, this just isn't enough. With evolving network infrastructures and the decreasing cost of 25 Gbps equipment, it's time to consider an upgrade.

However, these solutions can be out of reach for some budgets, especially when you know a simple PC could accommodate a significantly cheaper PCIe card.
The Economical Alternative: A DIY Solution
Blogger Christian Kohlschütter highlighted an affordable 25 Gbps Thunderbolt adapter using a server-pulled OCP 2 NIC and a small Thunderbolt 3 adapter module. Initially, this setup was only $160, a real steal for achieving 25 Gbps speeds. However, over time the price has risen, but it remains a viable option compared to branded solutions.
Technical Challenges: Bandwidth and Thermal
